As a project developer Green Giant Venture Fund works with clients to structure, finance, build, and operate emission reduction projects. We provide Capital assistance through our exclusive Carbon Finance option (FSCCP). We facilitate the approval process: including CDM methodology and development, JI host country approval, Carbon Credit Project Certification, Carbon Credits and CER's.
We develop Afforestation, Reforestation, Reduced Emissions from Deforestation Degradation (REDD), Biomass, Biochar, and Biofuel projects in Brazil, Australia and Africa. In North America and Canada we are reviewing feasibility studies for the following processes and technologies: Algae-Bio fuel-protein, Biomedical waste-fertilizer, waste-alternative Bio fuel catalyst. As a private equity fund (GGVF) invests in Carbon Credit eligible public companies throughout the world.
Mata Atlantica REDD Project
The purpose of this project is to protect sadly what is left (1,233,875 km2 in total) of this endangered coastal rainforest. Currently we are establishing the Carbon sequestration and Nitrogen fixation values of all native species. Starting this year (2010) we will be conducting and funding research to document the environmental symbiosis that exists between the Mata Atlantica ecosystem and the local marine ecosystem. Initially the focus will be on over 378,000 hectares of coastal rainforest in Mangaratiba, Angra and Parati. This project will include the participation of the Secretary of Agriculture .The following land owners have volunteered sites to be studied as pilot projects under the developing UNFCCC-REDD guidelines.
1) Almeida 60 hectare property in Parati designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
2) Voss 245 hectare property in Angra designated as a UNESCO Biosphere.
This project aims not only to provide protection to the Mata Atlantica forests, but also to assist in the development of REDD guidelines, and to further understand the value of the marine ecosystem carbon sinks. In the event that the REDD guidelines are not established this project will revert to Reforestation by use additional native species that have a high CO2 sequestration rate. We are currently seeking financial contributions and offering direct investment in the form of future Carbon Credit returns. We welcome all scientific and biological data contributions and maintain an open sharing research policy.
